Bungalow Fair - A Brief History

The Good Shepherd Center/ Photo: Marissa Natkin
In October, 1998, the Historic Seattle Arts and Grafts Guild hosted an informational fair at Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford to provide an opportunity for the community to learn about bungalows and Craftsman homes common to Seattle neighborhoods. The following year, a larger event filled both the Senior Center and the adjoining Meridian School gymnasium with antique dealers, reproduction furniture craftspeople, and artisans from throughout the Northwest. The Arts and Crafts lecture program was also held at this time.

With growing demand for space, Historic Seattle moved its signature event to First Hill in the fall of 2000. This has enabled us to host over 50 architects, interior designers, antique dealers, and craftspeople in metal, tile, glass lighting and furniture in 10,000 square feet of space at Town Hall, the former Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist. Historic Seattle has made the Bungalow Fair a yearly tradition looked forward to by thousands of residents and visitors.
In 2008 we are celebrating our 11th Anniversary of the Bungalow Fair! We appreciate the continued involvement of our faithful exhibitors who have shown at the Fair. We want to especially thank 6 exhibitors who have shown at all 11 Bungalow Fairs (1997 - 2007):
