InterUrban: “Heart this Dive” Happy Hour

Tuesday, September 13, 2016 | All Events (see all) 8617 14th Avenue S
Seattle, WA 98108 United States

This event is sold out and registration is closed.

Seattle’s historic small businesses and iconic dive bars are its soul. With the rapid pace of development, these longtime businesses and gathering spaces – from bars, restaurants, shops, and galleries – are at risk of being lost.InterUrban_LogoInCircle_Purple

Come celebrate these beloved places and learn about how to protect them at our InterUrban Happy Hour in South Park! Loretta’s Northwesterner welcomes us to their down-home restaurant, which started out as a logger tavern. The Stranger described drinking at Loretta’s “is like drinking in a cabin in the woods, or maybe inside a wooden cigar box.”

Mike Seely will give a talk about dive bars in Seattle, and you’ll hear about the latest collaborative initiative on Seattle Legacy Businesses that seeks to recognize these historic places as community assets worth saving.

Mike Seely is a native Seattleite and author of Seattle’s Best Dive Bars (2009). He was the managing editor of the Seattle Weekly, where he wrote a food column called “Bottomfeeder.”

InterUrban seeks to inspire conversations about achieving more livable communities through historic preservation.
