SIFF | 2023 Community Investment Award
We look forward to joining you for an in-person program featuring our 2023 Community Investment Award winner’s project, SIFF Cinema Downtown, formerly known as the Cinerama!
Attendees will be provided exclusive access to SIFF Cinema Downtown where we’ll hear from Tom Mara, SIFF’s Executive Director, and Eugenia Woo, Historic Seattle’s Director of Preservation Services. Our conversation, happening within the theater itself and in those wonderfully plush seats we know and love, will explore the process of saving this community asset, while learning more about SIFF’s story, mission, and rationale for saving Cinerama.
And what better way to conclude this conversation than by watching a movie!
Attendees will be provided complimentary viewing of the night’s showing of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug!

Event Logistics
Our program will start at 5:15pm at SIFF Cinema Downtown, with doors opening at 5:00pm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to walk around and explore the space.
At the start of our program, attendees will be seated in a reserved section of the theater. Here, we’ll hear from our speakers for roughly a half hour.
At the conclusion of our conversation, those who wish to stay and watch The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, will be provided wristbands. With a wristband present, you’ll be able to leave the premises and be allowed back into the theater for the 6:30pm showing of the movie.
Concessions (yes, the popcorn will be ready), will be available for purchase once the theater opens to the public at 6:00pm. Seating is assigned, so remember to return to our reserved section for the movie showing.
