2011 Awards

On May 10, 2011, Historic Seattle hosted its Third Annual Historic Preservation Awards ceremony at the Talaris Conference Center (formerly Battelle Seattle Research Center, established in 1967) to honor excellence in historic preservation. Speakers included architect David Hoedemaker and landscape architect Rich Haag who spoke about the original design of the Battelle campus. University of Washington architecture professor Jeffrey Ochsner presided over award presentations.

Best Rehabilitation Project Award

The award was presented to the City of Seattle Department of Finance and Administrative Services and the project teams for Fire Stations 2, 17 and 41 for their outstanding achievements in historic preservation. The renovation of these three historic fire stations (all designated Seattle Landmarks) demonstrates commitment to preserving utility. Lake Wilderness Lodge

Best Rehabilitation Project Award

Best Preservation Practice Award

Living Landmark Award

Friends of Naval Air Station Seattle Historic District

Community Advocacy Award

The award was presented to the Friends of Naval Air Station Seattle Historic District (Sand Point) for their efforts in preserving and honoring a significant part of Seattle’s aviation and naval history.
