Lawrence Kreisman invites exploration and appreciation of Seattle’s stained-glass heritage, represented in the work of traditional European companies, leading American studios, and Pacific Northwest companies whose work embellishes houses of worship, commercial and apartment buildings, and private residences.
They represent different techniques and stylistic approaches that carry on centuries-old traditions or forge new and progressive ones. The tragedy of recent and proposed demolitions of significant buildings embellished with stained-glass encourages documenting Seattle’s contribution and advocating for preservation.
Lawrence Kreisman, Hon. AIA Seattle, was Program Director of Historic Seattle for 20 years and Director of the Seattle Architecture Foundation tour program from 1990-2003. He is recognized for significant work in bringing public attention to design history, the Northwest’s architectural heritage, and its preservation through courses, tours, exhibitions, lectures, articles, and 11 books.
