SOLD OUT! Street Trees of Seattle Walking Tour

Saturday, October 5, 2024 | Special Events (see all)

This program is SOLD OUT! If you would like to be placed on the waitlist, please email our Community Programs Manager, Evan Bue, [email protected].

Join us for a weekend exploration of some of Seattle’s oldest wood structures around: our historic trees! Click here to register now!

Seattle neighborhood Capitol Hill was clear-cut in the 1880s and given its current name in 1901 — today, only a small percentage of its street trees are native species to this region. Join author and illustrator of Street Trees of Seattle: An Illustrated Walking Guide on an autumn tree stroll to see the neighborhood’s history through a different lens. We’ll walk a little over 1 mile to visit some of the city’s widest-diameter maple street trees, learning how to tell apart red maples, Japanese maples, bigleaf maples, silver maples and sugar maples and perhaps a plane and tulip tree thrown in for good measure.

About the tour Guide

Taha is the author and illustrator of Street Trees of Seattle: An Illustrated Walking Guide (Sasquatch Books, 2024). She serves as a member of the council for Historic Seattle as well as the board for the Cal Anderson Park Alliance.

About the Tour

The tour will cover approximately 1 mile of distance and take 90 minutes. Please be sure to bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes. Those who register will be emailed a meeting location within 72 hours of the event date. Please only register if you are able to attend, as there is very limited capacity. If you register and are unable to make it, please let Evan Bue, our Community Programs Manager know.
