Digging Deeper is Historic Seattle’s multi-session program designed to provide attendees with behind-the-scenes insight to primary research materials in the many archives and libraries in Seattle and King County. Each month we visit a selected archive or library and receive expert advice as to what is available and how staff can assist with research projects. This program helps you to explore buildings, architecture, and history. By the time you are through, you will want to attend one or more of the events during National Archives Month in Seattle in October 2016.
On Saturday March 12, we will visit Special Collections at the University of Washington Libraries. (This is a repeat of a program we offered in 2014, back by popular demand.) Special Collections is a major resource for rare and archival materials covering a broad range of topics, formats, and periods. Its holdings focus upon history and culture of the Pacific Northwest region.
Lisa Oberg, Head of Public Services, will provide us with a ‘behind the scenes’ view of this archive, as well as sharing new information on what research aids are available. The archive is open and accessible to the public.
