Erik Mortenson is an artisan general contractor. Tried & True Millworks is the architectural millwork shop at the core of his company that specializes in preservation and restoration work. Much of the work has been on significant and historic homes in and around Los Angeles, many of them California Arts & Crafts style homes. His last project in Los Angeles, before returning to his native Pacific Northwest, was Hollyhock House, the Frank Lloyd Wright museum-house owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles. There he designed, built, and installed many reproduction doors and windows for the house and garage as part of a major restoration of the house. He shares his experiences working with this iconic building and will shed light on what to do and what not to do in renovating humbler homes.
